The city of Itamonte is located inside the APA of Mantiqueira, that offers beautiful landscapes and excellent options for ecological tourism. It is part of the "Estrada Real"(Real Road), the "Casarão" of Engenho de Serra (colonial farm house) was used as inn by the Isabel Princess for it passages to Caxambu. Incrusted in the middle of mountains between two Parks, Itamonte has some natural atractives: rapids, canions with 150m height, waterfalls, a natural slide river, areas for dynamic flight, and mountain sports that can be done at Pico das Agulhas Negras (Black Needles) and Prateleiras in the high part of the Itatiaia's National Park. Itamonte and the Mountain range of Mantiqueira are certain the script for the nature lovers.
